Mobile Polar Museum will tell the residents of Rostov-on-Don the history of the North Pole exploration from the research station SP-1 to the deep-water manned vehicles diving.

Rostov-on-Don. October 10. INTERFAX-South – Mobile Polar Museum devoted to the North Pole exploration will be opened at Rostov Regional Museum.

According to MVK press-service, the exhibition which will work till October 14, will demonstrate personal belongings, archive documents and photographs of the researchers who worked at the first drifting station SP-1 and legendary pilots Valery Chkalov, Michail Vodopyanov, papaninities and other North Pole explorers. 

The visitors will also see unique photo and video materials of Mir-1 and Mir-2 Arctic Ocean submerging and Museum’s exposition at the drifting station SP-35.  

Emphasizing the necessity of the exhibition, Alexey Shaburov, the Head of the project and  Director General of MVK International Exhibition Company, stated: “Only our real actions in present will let us unite the past and the future and build up the reality that we dream to live in”.

Mobile Polar exhibition was launched in April at the North Pole and was already displayed in the State Duma and Ekaterinbourg.

The organizers expect over one million visitors in other Russian cities.

2007, the year of the 70th anniversary of the first drifting station SP-1 and two polar flights of Valery Gromov and Valery Chkalov, was declared to be the International Polar Year.
