On October 10, 2007 MVK Mobile Polar Museum was opened in Rostov-on-Don. This outstanding event aroused great interest in the city. The opening ceremony was visited by 700 people among whom there were Don Cossacks.

SUMMING-UP OF THE ARCTIC HIGH-LATITUDE DEEP WATER EXPEDITION

Triumphal return!
Today the whole Russia enthusiastically met the polar explorers – members of the Arktika-2007 expedition. The special flight from Norway to Moscow with the “polyarniks” onboard was warmly welcomed by Russian and foreign journalists, MVK staff.

The MIR-1 has successfully reached the 4,261 meters depth
Today at 12.08 pm the deep water manned vehicle MIR-1 took the bottom at the North Pole point, depth 4,261 meters.

Arktika-2007 and MVK have reached the North Pole!
Today the MVK delegation has once again visited the North Pole. Fleet of the High-latitude Deep water Arctic expedition consisting of the scientific-expedition vessel “Akademik Fedorov” and the atomic ship “Rossiya” reached the 90º Nord point at 8.52 msc.

On April 23, 2007, 5.45 pm, the plane with MVK expedition has landed at Longyearbyen (Spitsbergen, Norway)On April 23, 2007, 5.45 pm, the plane with MVK expedition has landed at Longyearbyen (Spitsbergen, Norway), – reported Alexey Shaburov, the author of the project “North Pole – new opportunities in life and business”. The team is on the way to Barneo on board the transport plane AN-74. All the flight participants were astonished by the fabulous professionalism of the pilots who did their best to secure soft landing.

In June 2007 MVK patriotic museum will start working in the State Duma. Members of the Duma will have chance to get acquainted with photos, archive documents and personal things of the members of the Papanin polar expedition, said the author of the project Alexey Shaburov at the presentation.

But thet is Spitsbergen. Impressins.Behind the mountain there is another mountain. There are only mountains all around. In front, on the left, on the right… Too many mountains. That’s too much! For the last 10-15 minutes all passengers of the plane have been looking for an airfield. Either the pilot or the stewardess gave a sigh of relief.

Feedback from I.D. Papanin native landAs it is known, Ivan Papanin was born in a lovely city of Sevastopol. There he spent his childhood and youth, learned bases of the science and started to make first steps in his carrier. Of course, Ivan Papanin is an honorary citizen of Sevastopol. In this city there is a monument, erected in honour of the two times hero of the Soviet Union, and very soon in June of the present year there will be opened exhibition, dedicated to this legendary man’s life.
